Even if a cylinder is too damaged to be bored we can still reclaim it by ‘sleeving’ with a liner. If a cylinder block has been subject to heavy wear through the main bearings damaging the main line surfaces, we can line bore and also supply oversize main bearings.
BORING & HONING
Boring takes the ‘wear’ out of a cylinder using a precision cutting tool, re-sizing the bore to take the next available piston size. The cylinder is then finish honed to obtain the correct surface finish and finally plateau-honed to create a surface that will provide good life span and aid lubrication
